For the 'Dreamcast Tribute' at :icongame-art-hq:

Sega Dreamcast 20th Anniversary Tribute! 13/20Like mentioned a while ago I would love to organize a Sega Dreamcast Anniversary Tribute with you, in the best case published on the 9th September this year, the Sega Dreamcast Launch Date back in the USA in 1999.

The Idea is the following, instead of the usual character or single game video game fan arts, try to tribute multiple ones you liked on the Dreamcast, your personal best off, through characters, gameplay scenes, levels, logos..its all up to you, hell draw the Dreamcast itself surrounded by your favorite characters you relate to the awesome console that introduced us to online gaming, the funny controllers with their virtual memory units and of course Chu Chu Rocket!
Exactly 20 artists are allowed for this project, to claim a slot you just have to comment here as usual. Each tribute piece will get its own gallery on http://www.game-art-hq.com/ alongside descriptions and a full credit back to you.
Please describe your Idea for the tribute already in the comme

For the tribute to Sega's final console, I chose Marvel vs Capcom 2. Not only my favorite Dreamcast game but also my favorite arcade game in general.
Even to this day I consider it the best in the Marvel VS Series.
Sure Marvel vs Capcom 3 had Deadpool, Dante and even added my man Jedah to the mix.
But the more realistic graphics and balanced gameplay take a bit away from the craziness that was Marvel vs Capcom 2.

The fact Marvel vs Capcom 2 is one of the most broken fighting games ever is why it's so much fun.
Also their sprite artwork is some of the best ever in their traditional 2-D fighting games.

For this picture I had five of the characters from the game's gigantic roster having a party night playing Marvel vs Capcom 2. Or maybe they're playing Power Stone. I figure the stars of their own games would get tired of it now and then and wanna try something else.
But for the sake of this tribute, let's just say Marvel vs Capcom 2 is what they're playing.

The players in question are the cactus monster Amingo and the female pirate captain Ruby Heart. Marvel vs Capcom 2 is the only game they have ever been as full fledged fighters. I THINK they might've been cards also in that Capcom card game for the WonderSwan but I need to check the Fighters Generations web site again on that.
I heard these two were slated to be future new characters for a new Darkstalkers game way back when. But unlike Street fighter, Darkstalkers didn't quite catch on in the States at the time. But I guess Capcom liked them enough to where they decided they were unique enough to be exclusive characters for the Marvel vs Capcom 2 game. Yo know, exclusive amidst the other Capcom classics and Marvel heroes and villains.
This is also the second time I drew Amingo. I guess he got pulled out of retirement to have a nice party night with some old friends.

This still being one of my finest pictures I ever did for any of the Game-ArtHQ tributes.

So Amingo and Ruby Heart are enjoying some nice one-on-one with their own Dreamcast.
But who should be cheering them on in the background but Jill Valentine, Cable and Venom.

Yeah I never used Amingo or Ruby Heart. But Cable, Venom and Jill Valentine were always the ones I picked. They were my main team whenever I played this game.
I mean Cable just messes shit up with his Hyper Beams and Venom's been a favorite of mine to use ever since the early Marvel vs Capcom titles. Jill was more or less for balance, plus I loved the sprite work they did with her. And it's classic Resident Evil 1 Jill Valentine how I like her. Not blondie from RE5 whom Capcom decided to put in Marvel vs Capcom 3. :P
Yeah I wanted to be fair. XD I couldn't have my team just be Cable, Ice Man and Juggernaut. Didn't wanna be a total cheap ass. XD
Anyways these three are enjoying some pizza while watching Amingo and Ruby Heart playing. Jill looks like she's trying to give Ruby some gaming advice but Ruby looks too intensely focused on the TV screen to notice. Cable and Venom silently look one as they each take a bit out of their pizza slices. It'll take more than a slice to satiate Venom. XD

It was a pleasure but a lot of work to do to. I know Jill looks a bit too small and Cable a bit too big. But ah well I still like how it ultimately turned out.

Amingo, Ruby Heart and Jill Valentine belong to Capcom
Cable (X-Men) and Venom (Spider-Man) belong to Marvel
