2019 is winding down. We now leave behind a wild September that featured the wild Tess Morblung as the appropriately named Sniper Wolf.

Now we enter that particular time of year when artists get very creative. Whether they participate in Inktober or just come up with spooky independent projects of their own: October truly is that month where people really shine and feel that autumn air drive their creativity.
It is also a month of many surprises.

The biggest surprise I introduce is who represents the month in my 2019 calendar project.

Lady Malmsteen as most of my followers know was born on Halloween. And she is a vampire bat and lives in Petsylvania. By all accounts she should represent October more than any other character.
And yet I had her represent August because August is my birth month. And I created her. XD Plus; I had another idea in mind on how I would go about with October.
So much so some of my friends were curious who would be the one to represent instead of The Lady.
Our good friend :iconkingshovelton: eventually guessed my fox character Sharon Nicole Ken.
And then the video game series she would represent; would be none other than Castlevania.

By why not Lady Malmsteen again? Castlevania was the video game series that inspired her creation.
Heh; well it's because of the character I chose from the Castlevania series that ultimately led me to use Sharon Nicole Ken instead.
The character I chose was Maria Renard. Teenage Maria Renard from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It is my all-time favorite video game; and through this project I knew that ultimately I would represent it at Halloween.
Now I DID think of using the Succubus; but explicit calendars are for my FA account. XD

But here's why Sharon Nicole Ken my foxy character is dressed as Maria Renard. True both are blondes. Both are proficient Holy Power users. And both rely on the help of their animal friends with special powers from their respective universes. (Maria uses enchanted creatures; Sharon uses Pokemon.)
And yes....why didn't I use Sharon to represent Pokemon in November instead? (Phhht...spoiler.)

So let's get to the main reason.
It's in the name of the character I used. Maria's last name is Renard. And Renard means "Fox" in French.
Could I have chosen another one of my fox characters like Splash Vixen instead? Yeeeaahhhh I coulda.
But Sharon just looked so much cuter as Maria. It appealed to me. This was definitely a personal choice and frankly I don't regret it.

Although there is still regret that I didn't choose her to be the obvious representation of Pokemon in November. But don't worry I got someone else in mind. Hint: It has to do with the Gelar region and the real-world country it's based off of.

And you know what? I just realized so many people now have given Castlevania the respect it deserves. Symphony of the Night has influenced so many games and game creators. The Netflix series was a smash hit commercially and critically. And even the old-school games have been given a lot of attention thanks to Youtube gamers like the Angry Video Game Nerd.
And I fell in love with the series and honored Symphony of the Night as my all-time favorite game way back before we even entered the year 2000.
In other words.....I was into Castlevania before it was "Cool!" ;3

Sharon Nicole Ken belongs to me :iconshinragod:
Maria Renard belongs to Konami. (Though she and the legacy of Castlevania's influence really belongs to Igarashi.)
