Today's Inktober word is Ash.
And you know what that means? It means a lot of people are either going to draw Ash from Pokemon or Ash from the Evil Dead series.
I chose the former.
Simply because he won the Alola Championship and therefore for the first time in his life becoming a Pokemon League Champion.
After 20-something odd years you finally made it Ash Ketchum you Pokemon-enslaving little cretin you. XD
The internet 'sploded after this. And of course I was constantly reminded of it. Let this picture show that yes I was listening. XD
Throughout all the years I've seen the Pokemon anime (bits and pieces that is); the first one as well as the first generation games on Gameboy always stuck out in my mind the most.
Whenever I think of Ash traveling along that long road to becoming a Pokemon Master; I always think of him tagging along with his Pikachu and his original homies Misty and Brock.
They did pay Ash a visit in Alola but couldn't stick around for his big moment when he beat Gladion to become the Champion.
I'm sure they caught the match on TV and were no doubt very happy for him. Still in the back of their minds, I'm sure they wished they could be there to raise their little buddy up on their shoulders and give him a proper reception as long-time friends.
So imagine if you will Ash returning home (wearing his original outfit no less) and just walking down the street when his original crew Misty and Brock come up and give them their hardiest of congratulations. Complete with hoisting him up in the air and giving out a big "Hip hip hooray!!"
Pikachu of course is just as thrilled.
Ash then holds up a Pokeball; probably among the first he had upon traveling with his old friends Brock and Misty.
Remember the original crew of Pokemon is no doubt a walk down nostalgia lane. Regardless if you found them endearing or annoying; you cannot deny they represent an older generation of gamers and anime watchers that grew up watching their many adventures together.
Many wanted to see Ash and Misty hook up. (Perhaps myself included. XD) And many of us wanted to see if Brock would actually settle down on a girl for once. But as his visit to Alola proved; he never changes. Don't ever change Brock you lovable virgin you. XD
Here's to new memories while celebrating old ones. Ooooh you're my best friend....in a world we must defend. (Yeah yeah...XD)
