It's a Mar10 Day!
And with the movie coming very soon Mario hype is reaching a fever-pitch!
So how do I commemorate all this Mario mania?
Though TUFF Puppy of course. ;D
Now when casting Mario, Dudley was a no-brainer. But who would play the respective princesses like Peach and Daisy?
For Daisy that too was a no-brainer. It's Dudleys doggo girlfriend Daisy. They both share the same name so it had to be done. ;D
Besides Mario rescued Daisy all by his lonesome in the Gameboy classic Super Marioland. I even included the "Oh! Daisy!" quote when Mario reaches her. Though usually this ends up being a trick before he has to advance to the next world. Since this is the real Daisy that means he's reached the end of the game and they get to fly off together in a spaceship while some really nostalgic end credits music plays.
For the other princess Peach, I ultimately put Kitty Katswell in the role. Kitty Katswell is to TUFF Puppy what Princess Peach is to Mario. They are both the prime female representatives of each series. Likewise it was Peach being chosen as the main female lead for the movie because she's basically the most iconic female character in Mario. That's why despite the fact she acts more like Daisy in the film she was still chosen. I had Kitty wear her biker outfit complete with the battle axe. While the motorbike coulda been better i like how the pose for Kitty came out as she's holding that axe. Pretty epic!
So with Mario and Peach cast, who's playing Luigi? Well I was using the main cast to fill in the most iconic roles so I chose Keswick to be Luigi. The TUFF unit is like a family; though I dunno if Dudley and Keswick ever had any true bro moments. Luigi's time to shine was always the Luigi's Mansion games so I had Keswick don the ghost-busting equipment himself and gave him a Boo to suck up. In this case a ghostly Lady Malmsteen looking really peeved! I didn't kill her don't worry. XD This is all non-canon good people.
Where you have Mario and Luigi you have their nastier counterparts: Wario and Waluigi. I put Snaptrap in the role of Wario and Ollie in the role of Waluigi. Wario fits Snaptrap pretty well personality wise as both are eccentric villains with crazy plots. But Ollie being the more sensible and nicer of DOOM had to be a bit of a stretch to put him the role of the more nasty Waluigi. But I liked how they both came out so no harm no foul!
Tammy was cast as a minor Mario villain known as Hariet Broodal. She was one of the rabbit villains from Mario Odyssey. Tammy herself isn't so much a bad guy or opponent like they were. But she seems to enjoy her new fashion of wearing the big purple dress, spiked pitch helmet and above all the braided bombs in her hair. It's strange how Princess Daisy is viewed as Luigi's main squeeze; yet here I put Daisy as Mario's. So would Hariet be Luigi's main squeeze in this case? Well for TUFF maybe but for the actual Mario games: most likely not. XP
Finally we come to perhaps my personal favorite part of this art jam. Once again having Dudley as Mario but also having the Chameleon as Yoshi. XD The Chameleon isn't too happy about this seeing as how the Mario Bros usually ride Yoshi to get to places. Including places that require sacrificing Yoshi. In Super Mario World you drop your dinosaurian friend to reach a secret exit. You essentially sacrifice him to gain access to it. Dudley as Mario is blatantly stating this hence another reason Chameleon as Yoshi is not happy at all about this. It's also probably due to him being practically naked except for a saddle and boots. XD This is so humiliating.
