You know how one minute you got something in your head where you just say: "I GOT to draw this out."
Then as you draw out the process and look at it; you start getting frustrated on how long it's taking; AND you suddenly realized what you thought was good or funny at first turned out to be really stupid.
So then you get fatigued and tired of sitting at your computer working on this thing for long intervals of time.
Then you think to yourself: 'Regardless of what this turns out to be; I gotta finish what I started.'
This is such a scenario. Where I took two of my original characters (Xu Chan the panda and Lola Henderson the raccoon) from my 'yet to be fully realized' series featuring characters I created and made a little comic out of them.
The idea behind this is that Xu is just casually taking out the trash at night; while clearly in her night shirt.
Unbeknownst to her; her friend Lola is lurking the trash can and I am very sure as she pops out scares the Hell out of Xu.
Xu can actually tolerate Lola's weirdness. That's why she suddenly calms down when she realizes this is Lola being...well...Lola.
Now Lola is dressed as a creature she dubs 'Oscar the Grinchmit.' It is as it sounds: a combination of three green characters. Two of them are obvious muppets (Oscar the Grouch and Kermit the Frog.) But one is an allusion to the Dr. Seuss character; The Grinch. And yet at one point; he too was a muppet. I believe it was from the short lived 'World of Dr. Seuss' thing on Nickelodeon some very odd years ago.
Oh and 'Muppets Most Wanted' came out recently too. I mean...you guys like muppets right? ;D
And you know the song 'The Rainbow Connection' right? Well Lola is about to sing it...but it is sadly...her version. And it has nothing to do with rainbows. It has something to do with her unhealthy obsession for...narwhals. Complicated to explain for a character with no real back story; but let's just say she believes they watch her.
So here she is singing a paraphrased (almost parodied) version of 'The Rainbow Connection' she calls 'The Narwhal Conspiracy.' Much to Xu's chagrin (and ours) it contains some of the most ludicrous non sequitur lyrics imaginable. And if you sing it to 'The Rainbow Connection'; this will tell you a lot about Lola.
It is not uncommon for her to sing some of the most awful versions of songs anyone has the misfortune of listening too.
All while also holding a tiny narwhal toy she has.
And if that isn't weird enough; there are clearly cockroaches crawling on her. And the narwhal toy seems to know this too. Random things just happen around Lola.
Like take notice how those roaches suddenly spring up to form a can can line on her arm.
But Xu is having none of it and is really losing her patience.
The final nail in the random coffin is Lola doing a Sesame Street like closeout; claiming her song was brought to her captive listeners by a letter/number. Actually it's both; but she simply calls the number 12 a letter; and it's really an upside down 13.
That's it. Xu is having no more of this and demands Lola to "Get the Hell out!" It's late at night. Can't blame Xu for being annoyed by her antics. XD
But...who else by Lola? XD
Lola Henderson and Xu Chan belong to me.
