I have mentioned before that Lady Malmsteen can indeed fight. She is well versed in both swordsmanship and magic spells.
Now if she were to face her enemies head-on would she be wearing her traditional outfit? Well if she were spontaneously under attack yes.
However; if eh were prepared to go into full-scare war against those who stand in her way; she would wear something more warrior-like. Yet at the same time; more elegant.
I have to say; among the biggest reasons why I haven't focused so much on Lady Malmsteen was not because of my lack of interest in TUFF fandom or the show's end. More than anything; it was the waning interest in the Castlevania series. The Lords of Shadow series went out with a whimper as Konami killed off the series (as it will soon with Metal Gear Solid.) No one likes what Konami does these days; and their treatment of Castlevania was no different.
It seemed the series I once loved had finally been laid to rest. The series that helped create Lady Malmsteen more than anything else.
Then....the animated series hit Netflix. A few issues it had aside (namely it wasn't too action oriented and got a bit preachy) it was a very well made cartoon series! (And i say cartoon because it was anime inspired.) It received a huge amount of well deserved praise and reinvigorated interest in turning video game series into watchable media that could remove it's "Bad movie" moniker. It took Castlevania to show people that the best way to do video games any justice is not through movies; but through a TV series. Sly Cooper will also get it's own series.
To make interest in Castlevania on its way to being fully revived (other than the future second season of the animated series) is Castlevania's true successor Bloodstained on it's way next March 2018. I've listened to some soundtrack pieces and it feels very much like Castlevania.
So my interest in Castlevania has finally returned! And with it my interest in my own Lady Malmsteen.
In fact speaking of Bloodstained; I listened to one of it's pieces while drawing this piece:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok3LKN…If anything; Castlevania inspired Lady Malmsteen's battle outfit. Most assuredly; it was no doubt inspired by Alucard's outfit from Symphony of the Night. It was elegant, refined but also battle ready. No doubt Lady Malmsteen fashioned her battle outfit as a tribute to Alucard. (Her ultimate fangirl crush.)
A combination of her dress and armor was fashioned to show that even though she's ready to fight she still wants to look stylish while doing it.
More than anything, her defiant stance with her sword in hand shows her proud demeanor. Although it is fun to watch her lose her cool and get all crazy Hartman style; there is plenty of room to show her as a proud warrior woman who isn't afraid to face what comes her way.
A kind of impromptu pic that may not be final. It's pretty close how I imagined her battle outfit.
But it definitely offers a different perspective on her as well as another alternate outfit for her.
Many of my peers have created alternative outfits for her; each one very imaginative and awesome in their own right!
i suppose if i made a Symphony of the Night Metroidvania-style game (which is what I always wanted to do) this is what she would look like in it.
