Sharon New Eeveelution Hopeful

So yes more announcements for the upcoming Pokemon Sword/Shield game is coming up.
We get another update on it coming next week on June 5th at 9 AM.

(Or whichever time zone you're in. Synchronize your watches people.)

I know one thing...my own foxy character Sharon Nicole Ken is watching coverage non-stop hoping that a new Eeveelution will be revealed or at least hinted at.
Crossing her fingers she chants her "New Eeveelution..." mantra.

Much to the annoyance of her little Eevee buddy Momo.

Momo: Oh...nice. Another new Eeveelution you can add to the collection.
Sharon: Family Momo! You and my Eeveelutions are family!
Momo: Yeah...family that spends a good deal of time in the PC Box.
Sharon: It's not my fault it's only six at a time....

Sharon's one of those girls who wants every single Pokemon Type covered for the Eeveelutions. Until there is nothing left.
There is speculation on what Type the next Eeveelution would be if any:
A Rock Type
A Steel Type
A Dragon Type
A Flying Type

Given the region these seem pretty likely.

For those who don't know, how can a furry girl like Sharon live in a world of Pokemon where humans still rule? Well it's just fandom fun on my part; she's just a big Eevee fanatic. Unless there's a tribe of Beast People humans don't know about but that's silly. XD

I also am fixing Sharon's design a bit. I am making her thinner and her blonde hair fuller. She's still a fairly young girl. And a contender for my cutest of my characters; but Lola's waiting in the weeds. XD

Anyways I am definitely looking for news on June 5th on the upcoming Pokemon game.
Wonder how disappointed Sharon will be when no news of a New Eeveelution is revealed.....well....yet perhaps.

June 2019 - Valerie Quinn Aerith Gainsborough

Gee whiz. May gone already?
The months are flying by here already. It seemed like not too long ago I drew my own Ruth Campbell as Kairi from Kingdom Hearts.
May 2019 - Ruth Campbell Kairi by shinragod

So here it is the month of June. Time to introduce our next gal and the next game/game franchise she represents.

It's my hippie fox girl Valerie Quinn; or Val as everyone calls her.
In what I can only describe as my longest submission title yet; she is dressed as Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII.
You know while the months may be going by fast; the wait for the Remake is not. They announced one of the most important games of my life would be remade back in 2015 and it is now in development hell.
Once more; rumors of it being released in episodic format and some political correctness being added makes my trepidation about the Remake turning out to be a disaster all the more real. I hope this won't be Square's equivalent to Duke Nukem Forever.

Now for the record; Final Fantasy VII is a political game but it is NOT a politically correct one. There are many moments in that game that if they were changed by today's sensibilities fans would take immediate notice of. (Particularly the cross-dressing mini game.)
And Valerie Quinn is a political girl herself being a hippie activist of sorts. Her role as Aerith most likely coincides with her fierce need to save the planet from global warming much like how Aerith and her buddies in AVALANCHE tried to save the world from Mako sucking Shin-Ra Co. reactors. (Only to find out later Sephiroth was going to be a bigger problem.)
And speaking of Sephiroth....does that mean Val here is going to meet her (spoiler) demise that caused so many gamers to "cry" back in the day?
Don't look too deep into this. XD I don't have enough of my own characters to fill out the roster of the entire FF VII cast. At least not ones that make sense.

Valerie - Aerith
Ruth - Tifa
Xu - Yuffie
Chris - Cloud
Brian - Cid
Roger - Vincent
Mark - Barret
Lola - A Chocobo

Huh....maybe I do. I'm just short Red XIII and Cait Sith. Oh yes and the man himself Sephiroth. XD

And yes I got a bit naughty here with the dress and am giving you all a peek at Valerie's thin but very shapely legs and a bit of her undies. ;3
Val's a cutie. I do like me furry girls with glasses.
Oh yes that's the Princess Guard (Aerith's ultimate weapon) she's holding. That was worth getting huh? LOL!! XD

June is gonna be real busy for me. But I can assure you the July calendar will be ready too when it is time.

This is Gonna Be a Busy Summer [UPDATE!!]

Splash Vixen Befriends Boombox COMMISSION

$

Commission done for my friend :iconradiotonepictures:.

Quite an elaborate one too. It involves his robot character Boombox meeting my own team of super powered elemental girls known simply as 'The Angels.'
And their electrically charged leader General Blitz too. The group that will one day take over TUFF and perhaps even the world.

But things have hit a snag. One of their team members seems to have defected. Boombox seems to have convinced the most easily misled member of the group to come on over to his side. Whether or not his own side is more insidious we're not sure. But he was designed to be an entertainment model; so he must've played a favorite song of the team member to goad her.
The team member being the sweet but kinda dim Splash Vixen.
Splash Vixen isn't the most competent of her team. As such she sometimes gets flack from her other team mates. Mostly from Shining Wolf (their defacto leader other than General Blitz) who treats her like a child at times.
So confiding in Boombox she soon discovers how nice he is...or appears. Suddenly she's gotta new friend and she sheds tears of joy. Caught up in the ecstasy of new friendship she openly admits he's nicer than "Shiny" is. She's referring to Shining Wolf. She refers to her teammates by their first part of their Code Names and always adds "y" at the end of them.
It's a major click that is part of her character and she ALWAYS does this.

So how do her fellow team members react to this switch? Differently but most seem pretty miffed by it.
Storm Foo hovers overhead just looking down shaking her head that her team mate traded her friendship with the for a machine. "....How perverse" was a line added that I took from C-3PO from 'Attack of the Clones.'"Shut me down! Machines building machines...how perverse." In every fan comic I am doing; there will ALWAYS be a Star Wars reference.

Stone Jackal true to her character says little to nothing at all. She just stands there silent and statue-esque.

Dark Shikoku thinks to herself in Haiku format. She always speaks and thinks in Haikus. Which will be sometimes challenging to write so I need to look up major words online to see how many syllables there are in them. It's hard to know sometimes how many syllables there are in words that have a hard "D" at the end of them. And "blonde" was one of them. So I looked it up to see it was only one syllable. So be it.
Challenging to write Haikus all the time for this character. But it's a fun challenge. ;3

Shining Wolf is actually taking what Splash said kinda hard. She looks genuinely hurt. Like: "I'm not mean...just firm but fair." Poor Shining Wolf. As the defacto leader she tries really hard to keep the rest of her team in line. And given some of the personalities of these girls it is extremely difficult. She's kinda like the Kitty Katswell of the Angels. She's the responsible and most competent one; but also the one who has to bear the brunt of some of her more rowdy and incompetent teammates.

Blazing Husky just simply folds her arms and calls Splash Vixen "Weird girl...." It's her catch phrase. I got it from Exile from Road Rovers. She always refers to her strange behavior from her fellow team mates. "Don't be a weird girl" or "Don't be weird girl...." The thick Russian accent of hers only sells it.

Crystal Dingo (the character Lizzy McDinga was modeled from) just throws her hands up in disgust simply commenting that "The Dumb One" of the group has left. She of course is referring to Splash Vixen. Don't let the pink or the fact her powers are crystals fool you. There's nothing really girly about Crystal Dingo at all. Like Lizzy she is rude and crude. And no...they're not related despite looking similar.

Rose Coyote follows up on it by simply stating that their commander General Blitz still leads them. So technically they still have "The Dumb One" insinuating he's the bigger idiot. (If not the most crazy.) Her click is speaking Spanglish where she ocassionally throws in a bit of Spanish now and then. ("Idiota" being Spanish for idiot.) She's looking a bit more like Carmelita Fox every day now huh?

So how doe General Blitz himself react to all this tomfoolery? Presumably off screen we see a panel bubble showing his reaction shot. He simply puts his finger to his forehead an thinks to himself how his team should've just consisted of men instead. A lot of you probably wonder why he would just have only girls on his elite fighting force when he plans for a hostile takeover. In some strange way, he wants his HOSTILE TAKEOVER to look progressive. So having all female fighters from different countries and races fight on his behalf is his way of making him appear "progressive." I suppose when he takes over he needs good publicity. So that way people on Social Media could say: "Well he may be a maniacal dictator. But his most elite fighting force consists only of women. HASHTAG ProgressiveDictatorFTW.
Yeah; that's the only reason. XD Coudln't possibly be him also being kind of a perv. XP
But he's regretting that decision right now as the group comments on Splash's defection.

That's all I gotta say about this pic. I hope you all enjoy it as I did making it. The dialogue in particular was fun to write. XD
Hope you love it too :iconradiotonepictures:

Commission for :iconflareemerald77:.

Per a conversation we had on another previous pic I did featuring Sarah Brendhart's posterior. But much more covered. XD
He then showed me his ferret girl Frida Lupe Herano.
He wanted to see a pic of these two having some fun together.
Frida is bisexual despite being married to a man. I don't know if I officially made Sarah such either but it seems she doesn't mind experimenting.
Seems like she figured she was never gonna get a chance with Carmelita. Why not be with someone more willing?

Besides Frida isn't bad looking either. What with that wild pink hair and nicely tan-skinned body.
Interestingly I find Frida comes more from the Sonic fandom. But across fandoms she discovered Sarah and took a bit of a fancy to the thicc husky. XD

While Sarah gropes a bit of Frida's butt, Frida in turn pulls on Sarah's panties giving her a kind of wedgie.
The look on their faces tells me they enjoy the playful nature of this foreplay.

Anyways I hope you enjoy :iconflareemerald77:.

I remember me and my girlfriend watched the DragonBall Z Super Broly movie quite a few times together when she was over. It's quickly become among our favorite movies; mostly favorite DragonBall Z movies.
Man does she love Frieza. XD

And man do I love me some Cheelai fan service now and then. XD

In this particular case I drew her wearing a sling bikini. And it looks like she's showing it off in front of Broly. Broly is just sitting there eating a bean bun minding his own business; and can't quite comprehend why she's flaunting her hot stuff.
He's a proficient fighter but a bit slow on the intake to affection. Can't blame the poor guy after all he went through.

Speaking of poor guys: in the BG is Lemo surfacing only to find his long-time partner Cheelai flaunting her stuff like that.
He is so confused right now. XD I can't help but feel like there was a sort of father-daughter relationship between the two. Lemo acted as Cheelai's voice of reason and guidance amidst the chaos.

Then again...he HAS Seen Cheelai in provocative positions before. As have we. XD Just...not with so few clothes on. XD

Drawn using my new model kit for the first time. These super-pose models with interchangeable hands and accessories do really save a lot of time sketching out and trying to come up with poses. I used the female model for Cheelai and the ale model for Broly. Obviously not to scale as they originally were. I had to exaggerate some features. XD

EDIT: The earlier rendition had the right eye look too big and the mouth in a weird position. I edited it to refine the image more and am pleased with the results.

Broly, Cheelai and Lemo belong to Toei Animation/Funimation Studios.

OC Sexy Pose Lingerie Poll Picture

For a current poll I'm running.
I have my art model in a sexy pose with a reference of the sexy lingerie I will be giving the character drawn over her.
It's an OC of my own design and it's for a current Art Jam right here:

OC lingerie art jam 2019It's that time again.
The rules are as followed:
1. The art features original characters (doesn't matter robot or such). Doesn't have to be your own character, but make sure the owner is ok with it
2. Because I really don't want to see male wearing lingeries, the OC of your choice have to be female!
3. By lingeries, it could be any type of underwears, from cute one to sexy one.
4. By saying that, No R-18content and no underage OC (flat chest is OK btw, just don't sexualize it). Please keep it tasteful, keep them privates out of sight! (sexy playful teasing is OK)
5. Art has to be new, also made after June 1st 2019
6. If you want it to be included in the jam, post a link to your art in the comments.
7. The art must be yours.
8. Deadline is August 1st 2019!
9. Have fun and don't worry about quality.
The entries:

The rules clearly state it has to be MY own OC. So when it comes to voting you can't submit your own OC or a pre-existing character.
Gotta be one of my own design.

The Poll will be two options.
One reads: "Draw whoever you want." This is where I will choose myself who will represent. I will draw a name at random.
The second one reads: "I have a suggestion!" This is where you comment in my poll who you want represented. I look over the answers and see wo either gets the most names mentioned or someone I feel is best appropriate. I kinda wanna hear your thoughts on this. XD

But yes You need look no further than my Queen of Summer Folder to get ideas. ;3: www.deviantart.com/shinragod/g…

I look forward to see how this turns out. ;3

This story spurred from a comment left to me by :iconpleasereadcomment77: on one of my pics where it showed Chris Fuzz and ruth Campbell being role-reversed Tarzan and Jane.
This was based off one of the most memorable (and surprisingly sexy) scenes of the film.
So for a kind of writing jam he was holding I wrote a story detailing the scenario of the piece at the commentator's request.
This is the result. It's pretty wordy. So you might need to skip to the bottom for the juicy stuff. XD
Hope you enjoy :iconpleasereadcomment77:

Top Ten Castlevania Games

$
0
0
This is based off my previous lists:
Top Ten Playstation Games by shinragod Top Ten Favorite Games MEME by shinragodTop Ten Worst Games MEME by shinragodTop Ten Super Nintendo Games by shinragod

In the Super Nintendo one when I talked about Super Castlevania IV, I wondered if I would ever make a Top Ten Castlevania Games list one day.
Well....from last year to the current: Castlevania enjoyed quite a revival. The Netflix series was a critical success that pleased fans and new-comers alike. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fit Simon Belmont and Richter Belmont in nicely. A huge compilation of Castlevania games was released on the Switch recently; and last year on the PS4/XBox One respectively with Castlevania Requiem of Blood: featuring two of its most influential games we shall talk about. Also there is the spiritual successor in the form of Bloodstained.

Castlevania is enjoying quite a revival. For the longest time I figured it was a series only a few people cared about it. It appears there have been fans of this series who love it just as I do. One of which I will mention here in this Top Ten Castlevania list I actually took time to compile.

Now you must look at this list objectively. This is based off what order I believe they should be in based off my own personal experiences. What rank they are put in can sometimes vary on my mood. Sometimes a game that is in the #3 spot can also be in my #1 spot depending on what I like playing.
But I put them in a finite order based off the following reasons:
- How many times I played them.
- How they influenced me as a a gamer and an artist.
- How impactful they have been on me.
- How it implements Castlevania's best known elements: design, gameplay and the soundtrack.

Also when it came to the handheld Castlevanias, I based my picks off what I felt were the best of the trilogies that appeared on Gameboy, Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS. So only one entry per handheld in this case.

But enough talk....HAVE AT YOU!!

#10. CASTLEVANIA ADVENTURE II: BELMONT'S REVENGE - This entry is part of the Castlevania compilation available on the Nintendo Switch. I don't believe it's available in the Virtual Console on the 3DS. It's inferior predecessor 'Castlevania Adventure 1' is. Now 'Castlevania Adventure 1' is the worst game in the series IMO due to very slow stiff controls and very VERY cheap hit direction and jumping controls. That being said as a fan of the series there are elements about it I like; above all else the Soundtrack. Now comes it's sequel 'Castlevania Adventure II: Belmont's Revenge'; and the improvements from its predecessor are seen in leaps and bounds and then some. The controls are somewhat streamlined (jumping can still be a bit awkward), the graphics are very improved, the sub-weapons returned (the first one didn't these) and overall the design is just much more unique and original. In fact so original is this game that it did something no Castlevania game to my knowledge has done before or since: a Stage Select screen. You choose from four different castles made of rock, plant, cloud and crystal like you would a Robot Master or Maverick in Mega Man games. Each castle had its own unique boss not based off a classic movie or mythological monster. They took their time with this sequel and made sure it was a vast improvement over the first one. We start it off at Number 10 because it can still be cheap at times due to still some stiff movement in the controls. Plus the final bosses are VERY frustrating. You will die a lot before figuring out the patterns. But it is by far the most unique in the series. And that game art box cover: super bad ass!

#9. CASTLEVANIA: LAMENT OF INNOCENCE - Our only 3-D Castlevania game on this list. And 3-D Castlevania games are VERY mixed bags. The Nintendo 64 ones aren't as horrible as people say; but they are far from greatness. (I personally think they're awesome in their own right.) The revamped (heh heh...vamped) Lords of Shadow series had its moments with most of them peaking in the first game. But even so; people just love 2-D Castlevania the best. So when it comes to the two that I remember the most; it was the two I played for the Playstation 2. That was 'Lament of Innocence' and 'Curse of Darkness.' Curse of Darkness had amazing variety to the game. Collecting materials to forge weapons and armor, raising familiars and growing them Pokemon style and using different varieties of fighting techniques depending on what kind of weapon you had equipped. The Netflix series didn't even touch upon what a Devil Forgemaster could clearly do. It could do more than raise armies from the dead as I just explained. Also Hector remained the same but Isaac was drastically changed. You should check out footage of what Isaac was really like in the game over the Netflix series. Part of me prefers that version better. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGNzPQ…
Then again...Season 2 of the Netflix series will most likely be like Curse of Darkness.
But if I spent so much time talking about Curse of Darkness why isn't it on here? Well by all rights both PS2 games should be on here. But Curse of Darkness did not feel as important to the storyline of Castlevania as Lament of Innocence did. Maybe Season 2 of the Netflix series will remedy it; but it was basically an event that happened after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. Lament of Innocence takes place at the very beginning of the Belmont timeline and where it originated from. Sadly this meant erasing 'Castlevania Legends' the Gameboy title from the timeline as well as a lovely and awesome Belmont named Sonia Belmont. (This was due to the game not being very good and Iga's controversial comments on Sonia being a woman during the early years of Dracula.) In it's place was instead a story about how a courageous knight Leon Belmont and his friend the tactician Mathis Cronqvist would begin their rivalry that set the stage for the struggle between Belmont and Dracula. Granted you don't actually fight Dracula in this game; and that is a bit of a disappointment. (Though a very unique one on one with Death still made up for it.) I will admit the story seems a bit spotty on how all this began. But the story was still important in it's own right on how the Belmont legacy came to be. Plus I like how Crispin Freeman (from Hellsing) voiced Mathias and delivered some spot-on dialogue what would shape Dracula's character for years to come:
Above all Lament of Innocence is not as long as Curse of Darkness, but that's actually a bit of a blessing. There was a lot of back tracking and monotonous wandering in Curse of Darkness. Granted both games have repetitive backgrounds; hence why they'd both be number 9 here. Like I said they're both equal in terms of the best 3-D Castlevanias I played. But Lament of Innocence cements its spot due to its overall importance in the story and some of the best cut scenes in the entire series.

#8. CASTLEVANIA– The one that started it all. Perhaps the simplest and most straightforward of the titles on this list. You are Simon Belmont....or Belmondo in Japanese. You go through six stages to reach the seventh and final stage to defeat Count Dracula. Beat him and...you win. That's it. Wanna play again? Try the even HARDER mode. Yes it's rather simple isn't it? No real story, or cut scenes or special power-ups other than your whip, sub weapons, hidden meat to replenish health, roman Numerals to increase usage of sub-weapons and treasures for points which can earn extra lives with enough of them. Oh yes....and this game is brutally hard! If you have not played in a long time or ever before back in the day, then death is almost a certainty. In particular are one-on-one duels with Frankenstein & Igor and the Grim Reaper to which lacking a roman numeral III Holy Water Sub-Weapon makes life harder for you. Need we forget the hallway with the axe knights and the medusa heads where 25% of your life ebbs away with one hit from either? Yes; this game is simple in story and design but hard in terms of gameplay and challenge. And it does suffer from stiff controls and sometimes awkward hit detection.
But I LOVE it!! It's the kind of game I can pick up again and again and just play it for the joy of it. I've gotten to the point now where I memorize the patterns and time the jumps and whip strikes right to where it's not as hard as it used to be. Although the challenge aspect of the HARDER after-game mode is still there and I have not beaten it yet. But I just go through the regular game anytime I want to just relax and play a nice old school game without worrying too much. Granted if I had not beaten it yet (All games on this left I HAVE beaten) then I might still be frustrated. But this was a game I had beaten back when I got into old school gaming on the NES and did without the use of save states on either emulator or re-release on virtual consoles or compilations. If you are good enough the game can be beaten in under thirty minutes. So it's not a long game at all and the simplicity and ugly looking graphics does subtract some of its appeal. But nevertheless; it's just the kind of game I can pick up and play when I feel the knack to do some old school gaming. Sometimes it's the simplest titles in a series that do it for people. And it doesn't get much simpler than the first Castlevania game. Well....maybe the first Gameboy title but that's already been covered.

#7. CASTLEVANIA: ORDER OF ECCLESIA - The DS Castlevanias are really special titles. It seems for the first two which were 'Dawn of Sorrow' and 'Protrait of Ruin' they abandoned the gothic art style and went for the more anime approach. This was during the anime boom of the early 2000s when people loved pretty much ANYTHING that was anime. While for the most part it's ok; I did not care much for the anime style of Castlevania. In fan art it's fine but not official games. So when Order of Ecclesia came around they went back to the detailed realistic gothic style of artwork reminiscent of Symphony of the Night and Aria of Sorrow. Given the serious context of the story it seemed appropriate. Also like Curse of Darkness, Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin were direct sequels where the heroes merely defeat Dracula and call it a day. Order of Ecclesia's place in the timeline is what happened after the Belmonts took a temporary hiatus after their near fall from grace. And yes, this is also among the first in the series' official timeline where the main hero of the story is a woman: Shanoa. But that's not really a major contributing factor to why I think it's among the best of the DS titles. (Though Shanoa is awesome.) It ranks here because they wanted to explore beyond the Castle walls. Not every place in Order of Ecclesia takes place in Dracula's castle. In fact Dracula's castle won't even come into fruition unless you meet specific requirements.Yes, you first need to venture through abandoned monasteries, haunted forests, spooky caves and underwater caverns to free all the villagers which will ultimately save you from your fate and allow you passage into Dracula's castle.
The main method of using weapons in this game is the Glyph system. Where you beat certain monsters and then absorb their powers holding the UP button. It costs magic to use these weapons so there can be an element of challenge to them. And that reminds me; unlike the previous DS titles this game actually can be difficult. Again I have beaten it but some boss fights are brutal. If you are ill equipped or prepared to fight them then you will meet your end rather quickly. Not all Metroidvania games (which this is) are cake walks. While the Glyph system isn't the best system they devised in the series (The Soul Set system is); it does allow Shanoa to use a wide variety of weapons and obtain special abilities. This can even involve one where she turns into a cat and can talk to cats. There's a lot of neat stuff to explore and find in this game. And the soundtrack is awesome. The two previous DS titles had amazing soundtracks; but this one freaking rocks. Overall I do consider this the best title to represent the DS titles. But Dawn of Sorrow is so very VERY close. But we'll cover that later as we move higher up the list when talking about its predecessor.

#6. CASTLEVANIA: BLOODLINES - The only Sega Genesis Castlevania. And in fact the ONLY SEGA Castlevania title; as there was a cancelled Dreamcast Castlevania that sadly never came to be. But you know what they say; something is better than nothing. And Bloodlines really IS Something! Also a part of the Castlevania Compilation collection and the upcoming Sega Genesis Mini; people will now get a chance to play this unique title. What's unique about it? Well first of all, it's one of the few Castlevania games to tie into the story of Dracula. Yes THE actual Bram stoker novel. Granted it's kinda odd given what had transpired earlier in the timeline of the series they now wanted it to tie into the novel. But you know it's kinda cool. XD What's even cooler though are the diverse locations. Think of this as Konami's Castlevania European Vacation. First you start off in DRacula's Castle, same ol stuff. Get through it and realize you're at the top already where Dracula's coffin is. Only Drac isn't here. Some easy to beat mecha knight is. Dispose of the knight and then you're off to...Athens Greece and what appears to be 'The Lost City of Atlantis.' Then to the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy to a German Munitions factory to the Palace of Versailles in France. OK...don't take this as a culmination of European culture. This is just highly dramatic versions of such places. But it's cool that out of all the Castlevania games, this one takes you to the most diverse places across Europe. It's sequel Portrait of Ruin did the same, but that was thanks to portals and the only real world place outside Europe it took you was Egypt. (Other places like the Circus and the Withc Academy seemed too other worldly to be distinct.) Here it wasn't about portals. Somehow the main heroes Johnathan Morris and Eric Lecarde made their way across Europe to catch up to Countess Bartley who was reviving Dracula in England.
Which then brings me to my next point. For a classic Castlevania title you can choose who you wish to be and each comes with a different skill set. Whether you want to do it the classic way with Morris using the whip and sub weapons. Or a different way with Lecarde and his spear. Whichever way suited your fancy and each man had a different method and reason for hunting the Count.
I also want to comment on the game's soundtrack. Genesis gets some flack for not being a sophisticated in creating  symphonic sounding soundtracks as it's SNES rival. But when people cite times the Genesis produced solid music (quite a bit of its games did actually) Castlevania Bloodlines often gets brought up. That's because it truly has an amazing soundtrack. What is a Castlevania game without a solid soundtrack? Fun but not as memorable.
What's also memorable about Bloodlines is that it's also among the most violent of the 2-D Castlevania games featuring blood and gore not seen since Mortal Kombat first touched the Genesis giving the SNES version the finger. And it's a good thing too because what is a game about Dracula and vampires without some blood? And maybe some gore? Well...most Castlevania games prior to Bloodlines really. XD
Now it reaches Number 6 because the hit detection is even more annoying than getting knocked back. Yes cheap deaths are crappy when getting hit back. But how about getting hit by the same enemy or another enemy at once at barely getting any recovery time? Bloodlines is like that. If you don't dispatch of enemies or get hit all at once you probably will die. The use of the whip despite being versatile to swing across chasms is also extremely limited compared to its SNES rival Super Castlevania IV. Oh baby do we have much to talk about THAT one. But yes overall Bloodlines should not be missed. Check it out!

#5. CASTLEVANIA DRACULA X: RONDO OF BLOOD - For the longest time we US audiences were stuck playing the watered down SNES port. But here's the thing. A lot of people complained about that port. On it's own it was still an awesome game. Hard as Hell and had a bunch of unwanted graphical tweaks. But other than that; still a decent and solid Castlevania title. Back then the only way to play the original Japanese version was either getting the original CD and playing it either on the original Japanese PC Engine or owning the CD Add-On for the Turbografx 16. (The latter of which is extremely rare.) Now I DO finally own a physical copy of this game; but merely as a collector's item. But in 2007 the remake (so to speak) of Rondo of Blood came out in the form of the Dracula X Chronicles. The 2-D and 3-D hybrid of a remake was pretty good honestly. But of course we fans wanted to play the original still. So in Dracula X Chronicles you could unlock the original Rondo of Blood as a playable game within the graphical remake.
And it was through the Dracula X Chronicles I finally got to play it for real. Playing the original Japanese version is among the Holy Grail of avid Castlevania fans for a time. Now it's available in the Dracula X Chronicles, on the Virtual Console and Castlevania: Requiem of Blood. But it still maintains the original German language of the most awesome opening cut scene of any Castlevania game I've played.
The original JP Version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkEGFo… The Chronicles version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLA6UE…
there is also the main hero of the game: Richter Belmont. Often cited as the "Ryu" of Castlevania due to his similar appearance, he brought a whole new dimension of playability to Castlevania in the form of the Item Crash. Primarily saved for bosses, at the expense of extra hearts players could use their equipped sub weapon to dish out a super charged version of the weapon. Holy Water and Cross Item crashes in particular were among the most useful. Richter also did away with the method of collecting power-ups for whips and stuck primarily to his chain version of the Vampire Killer throughout the whole game. He could also backflip which came in handy in some instances. Though a bit of the downside is the slide backwards when he landed that might result in a cheap death. Unfortunately this awesome game gets put at number 5 because like Bloodlines you get hit a lot in one setting and can get your life drained by a group of monsters easily.
But unlike Bloodlines, you have a diverse set of paths for which to choose. Each one holds different bosses and outcomes. And you could revisit them at the menu screen if you so wished. Some paths lead to a fair maiden Richter could save on his quest to save his girlfriend from Dracula. (Yes it's uh....one of THOSE games. XD) But the one girl you really wanted to save the most was Maria Renard. A young Maria Renard all blonde and dressed in a pink frilly dress....which reminds me of another damsel-waiting-in-a-castle game franchise I'm familiar with. Mama mia....
But the main reason you wanted to save her was because you could play her as an optional character at any point in the game. Once more, she was actually better to play with than Richter. Her animal buddy sub-weapons and Item Crashs were cool. (They represented the four Holy Beasts Byakko, Genbu, Seiryu and Suzakau which is SUPER cool!) But her double jump and power slide ability actually came in more handy than Richter's back flip and stiff walking. Agile little minx isn't she?
Cool boss fights, a solid soundtrack and the best use of anime in a Castlevania game back during a time it was more appropriate. I'm so glad I finally have the privilege to play this monumental Castlevania title.

#4. CASTLEVANIA III: DRACULA'S CURSE - Speaking of monumental Castlevania titles, this one title perhaps had the most influence on the series in terms of story. This was the game that inspired the creation of the Netflix series. In fact for the longest time Konami was looking for a way to animate this game into a feature. With the advent of Netflix they found a way to turn it into a series. And it was surprisingly a very good series. One of the few video game adapted series and movies that actually came out quite good. It took some liberties with the source material but that's understandable. Castlevania III is a very old game. XD (But why oh why did they leave Grant out? XP)
But more than just being the game that sparked the Netflix series; it's also the game that sparked the first confrontation between Belmont and Dracula....officially. Remember: In Lament of Innocence Leon did not fight Dracula and Castlevania Legends is no longer canon. Dracula was reigning over Europe and making life Hell for everyone. Finally after exiling them in fear of their power (the game did no specifically say the Church exiled them like the Netflix series did) the people found a surviving Belmont. That Belmont being Trevor Belmont. He looks nothing at all like the one in the Netflix series and was more or less a Simon Belmont sprite clone with basically the same move set having changed very little. So after going through the town as your first stage and beating a large horned skeleton called the Skull Knight it seems we're back in familiar Castlevania territory. Particularly since its predecessor Simon's Quest proved too cryptic and impossible to follow without a guide ending with a lot of frustrated gamers. The third of the NES trilogy clearly wanted to return to true form of the first game. But as soon as you beat the first boss, the differences between this one and the first game are seen immediately.
You get to choose which path to take. Be it the clock tower where you can find Grant DaNasty. Or the forest where you can either choose the path to Sypha Belnades or Alucard. Which then leads to the biggest difference of the NES titles. You can have a selectable character aide you in your quest. You can only take one with you of course; unlike the Netflix series where Trevor, Sypha and Alucard traveled together at once. (Grant was scrapped like I mentioned earlier.) Each one brought a unique ability to the table to help you on your quest; and each offered a different ending depending on who you ended the final battle against Dracula with. I usually finished it with Sypha sense her spells were the most useful. But when it came to the final battle against Dracula and his three hideous forms; I stuck solely to Trevor Belmont and his axe sub-weapon. James Rolfe (the AVGN) made it seem like the final battle against Dracula was impossible. It isn't. Like his Ghost N' Goblins review where he repeated "Get the knife!" you do the same here in this game. Only it's "Get the axe!" You use it to aim for Drac's head in his final form. And it's the surest way to beat him usually.
With diverse paths to travel and a diverse cast of characters this is easily the best of the NES Castlevanias and among the best of the traditional side-scrolling Castlevanias. Like the original Castlevania it is challenging and hard as Hell. But play it enough times like I have and you can get a feel for it to where it's not quite so tough. HINT: You can always type in "HELP ME" as your name for help. And yes...I knew about this back before James Rolfe said it. I played the original NES cart back before YouTube.
So it almost reaches the status of best 2-D side-scrolling Castlevania if not for it's typical cheap death hits of getting knocked into pits or getting stuck on stairs. And it's appropriate I bring up James Rolfe here; because our next entry he will be referenced a lot.

#3. SUPER CASTLEVANIA IV - If you watch Angry Video Game Nerd like I did; you saw his Castlevania marathon. You would also know that this entry on my list is his favorite Castlevania game in the series. And not long after he stated this, quite a few people followed in suit saying it was theirs too. They must've been like James and played it back in the day when it first came out; in 1991. Yet somehow I find that a bit dubious. Super Castlevania IV like its predecessors was not a huge hit in the States. Plus it was relatively rare to find a solid Triple A title back in the day in retail stores amidst the licensed garbage you'd find based off movies and TV shows. More than likely people found this game after either discovering Symphony of the Night (which we are close to covering...oh baby!) or after James talked about it. Now I got no problem if people like this game because it's a genuinely good Castlevania title; which it is. What bothers me is people regurgitating what James said in his review about as to reasons why it's the "best" in the series. The "best" of a series is purely objective. But repeating what James said as your reasons why it's good seems like internet tribalism to me. I don't go off my favorite games because certain internet personalities tell me it's good. I go off my own experiences. So when people say this is the best Castlevania game; I think some of them are telling the truth...but it seems most of them are just saying it cause James said it. Hard to prove because it is the internet and I don't know these people, but their similar points that James made leads me to believe this to be the case.
Regardless though, is James right when he claims this as his favorite Castlevania game? Again purely objective, but in terms of traditional side-scrolling non-Metroidvania Castlevania titles I think he is right. And among the main reasons is because of how you control Simon Belmont. Without sounding too much like a repeat of what James said, it's much easier to control Simon Belmont in this game than it was in the previous titles. Granted jumping is still a little awkward. You WILL have those "How did I miss THAT ledge?" moments. But the way the whip controls in different directions makes for a much more diverse way of attack your opponents rather than straight. Although granted I don't use the limp whip as often as I should since I am accustomed to whipping straight. But it's handy when you are in a pinch and need to flail about to get out. Sub-weapons are standard fair. Truth is I rarely used them because they actually proved not as useful as the whip when I needed it. In fact their effects are some of the crummiest in the series. So that's one strike against this game. Only weapon in this game I found useful other than the whip was the cross.
But I do agree with what some people say about this game. That the soundtrack is fantastic and one of the best in the series. The Genesis might've made the best use of its limited musical chip capability with Bloodlines. But the SNES sound chip took advantage of its musical capabilities with Super Castlevania IV to create a very moody and gothic soundtrack. It fit well with the gloomy but still colorful sprite based enemies and backgrounds. So the game has lots of atmosphere and is among the most atmospheric of the traditional side-scrolling Castlevanias.
Like the original Castlevania I can play this any time I want to and enjoy it. It's nowhere near as hard as the original. In fact this game is actually one of the easiest in the series. The multi-directional whip aside the bosses are actually pretty darn easy. (Only the final four: Slogra, Gaibon. Death and Dracula proved to be somewhat difficult.) But yes; I do think it's the best of the traditional side-scrolling Castlevanias.
Which leaves us with the remaining two titles which are what we call Metroidvania titles.

#2. CASTLEVANIA: ARIA OF SORROW - The Gameboy had some decent Castlevania titles in it's trilogy of games. So did the Nintendo DS which explored various uses of the touch screen and more enhanced graphics. But in terms of handheld Castlevania trilogies; the Gameboy Advance titles are among my favorites. It started with Circle of the Moon when I first got my Gameboy Advance. The DSS Card system was one of the best implementations of different weapons and stats changes in any game. But since it was on an older model the game was dark and hard to see. After getting a Gameboy Advance SP it improved much better. Then came Harmony of Dissonance with it's beautiful graphics and art style; but sometimes irritating soundtrack and monotonous back tracking. Regardless those two were solid titles.
But Aria of Sorrow was truly the best of the three. (Again IMO) For among these reasons was its implementation of what is to me the best combat system in the series: the Soul Set system. Three slots to fit three souls you collect from monsters. Each one enhances your stats, fires projectiles, summons an assisting element or creature, or even transforms the hero into something unworldly. Not only were you curious to see what each soul did and how it improved performance; but the incentive of "Gotta steal em all" from the monsters brought out the inner completionist in you. Also like many Metroidvania games, the monsters leave behind items too that can be useful. But it's all about having a little soul baby.
On that note it's sequel Dawn of Sorrow was just as good. In fact I would rank it a bit higher than Order of Ecclesia and put it right up here with Aria of Sorrow. But again; that anime art style had me hold back. The art style in Aria however is beautiful. Some of the best gothic style artwork ever used for Castlevania. Even for Gameboy Advance sprites they looked well detailed along with the backgrounds the hero Soma Cruz explored. But for the sake of gameplay in terms of the use of the Soul Set system, both Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow truly were among the best. I list Aria of Sorrow here because of it's style.
And it's moody soundtrack. I like Dawn's too but it felt too upbeat at times. Aria's was far more mood enhancing. And that is one thing I always want to know about Castlevania games: do they have good soundtracks? I am a video game music enthusiast. And Castlevania music is right up there to me with the likes of Final Fantasy and Mega Man music. Aria covers a wide variety and even with GBA's limited sound chip the music sounds fantastic as do the various sounds of different creatures and characters.
The story can be hit or miss. At first it seemed odd a story like this could take place in the future. But as I followed along and met other influential characters like Yoko and Arikado it gave me more insight into what it's sole purpose. Although...we still awaiting that fateful confrontation between Julius Belmont and Dracula in 1999 to be realized in game form. C'mon Konami....you don't got anything else better to do. XP
It was one of the few Castlevania games to feature a well fleshed out cast of characters who all were contributing to an important event about to take place. I won't reveal too much about the twist in this game if you haven't played it. But let's just say Castlevania isn't known for having strong writing and Aria really isn't any different. But the cause and effect of how it happens still is appropriate for this title and I enjoyed the reveal regardless.
Well Aria of Sorrow was the best of the Metroidvania handhelds to me. At least for this listing. Sometimes it can go to other games not listed here like Dawn of Sorrow and Circle of the Moon. (We'll put those two as the highest honorable mentions.)
So what about the game that started the term Metroidvania? And to this day is considered not only one of the most influential Castlevania games...but influential games period?

It's number one.

#1. CASTLEVANIA: SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT - I....I really can't say anything more about this game that I haven't said already in my previous listings. In both my favorite Video Games of All-Time and my Top Ten Playstation Games Lists this game came in at number 1. And I already stated this was the game that influenced the creation of my most well known character Lady Malmsteen and the land for which she rules over.
I have praised this game to death and have cited it as among my biggest influences in terms of games affecting my life and my art. Symphony of the Night is truly king in my heart.
Of course since then other games have surpassed it and in some cases, Castlevania games like Super Castlevania IV can be just as fun as it is. But that's just it. Was Symphony of the Night merely just for fun? No. For me and apparently a lot of other people: Castlevania Symphony of the Night was inspiration.
The detailed enemy sprites, the gorgeously decorated backgrounds, and that absolutely amazing soundtrack!! All this elements combined created something that was more than just a game. If you are like me you don't play Symphony of the Night for a challenge or just to kill time. You play it because it is an experience. You lose yourself into this immense castle complimented by its many twists and turns and amazing stage themes. You encounter monsters influenced by myth, legend and literature. You collect power-ups and items to which you are curious as to what they can do. The truth is there is so much in this game to do that even if you know everything, it's still an enjoyable experience to explore the castle again and again.
Well....for me it is. I will say this. When you play the game as the main hero Alucard; it's really not that hard. Your first time through it might be a little cryptic figuring out where to go or how the game mechanics work. But when you're like me and know the game and it's many hidden secrets like the back of your hand; it becomes a cakewalk. And Castlevania games are known to be hard. But like Super Castlevania IV this one is among the easiest. But again. if you're playing as the seriously OP Alucard. If you play as either Richter Belmont or Maria Renard in the later re-releases of this game then yes it does get challenging. And thus this leads to what James Rolfe considered the biggest bane of this game: the Game Over screen.
Yes, it CAN be a bit annoying to have to load the game up again to continue. But that continue aside: the Game Over screen is AWESOME!!! Dried up demonic bones with the castle looming in the background with an ominous "GAME OVER" voice letting out a chuckle. But above all are the words it says at the bottom urging you to continue.
"Let us go out this evening for pleasure! The night is still young!"
Wow! Now THAT is some real vampire honey-dripping right there. And how appropriate as it fits the series' most classiest and bad ass character: our fan favorite Alucard. To many people he embodies Castlevania just as much as the Belmonts. That can be good or bad depending on what mood you're in playing Castlevania games.
But that quote actually sums up Castlevania. Just cause you lost doesn't mean you should quit. The night is still young, let us continue. And playing Castlevania games at night is something I do a lot to get into the right mood. Granted during the day is fine too. But it's a game about vampires and unearthly creatures. It's nighttime baby, let's play us some Castlevania!
And look I put that Game Over screen quote next to the number one slot. Suck it people! I LOVE THE GAME OVER SCREEN!!! XD XD XD
Is there something sucky about this game then? Well aside from being too easy and the infamously cheesy voice acting of the original PSOne release (though I actually find it endearing); what is up with that US release cover? The Japanese version was far more awesome. And look a the rest of the titles on this list. They all have their own awesome artwork with such amazing amount of detail and depth to them! For Symphony of the Night's US release, it's just a photo of a real castle wit ha lightning bolt in the BG. Granted that castle probably looks pretty sweet IRL. My point is the cover is just stock compared to the more beautifully detailed overs of the other Castlevania games. Even Castlevania Adventure 1 which i consider the worst has a far more awesome box cover than this. :P
And I also have the version that has "Greatest Hits" printed on the side. So yeah; that sucks. XD
But really that's my only major complaint. When a game like this influences your artwork, your taste in games, your taste in music and overall your gaming experience; it truly speaks volumes of its greatness.
And that's why to me; Castlevania Symphony of the Night is not only my favorite Castlevania game but my favorite game of all time period!

OC lingerie art jam 2019It's that time again.
The rules are as followed:
1. The art features original characters (doesn't matter robot or such). Doesn't have to be your own character, but make sure the owner is ok with it

Based of the picture I had in a previous poll:

I had people either vote for an OC of my own choice or throw a suggestion in the poll comments section.
I got a lot of suggestions but in the end choosing who I wanted won the poll.

So what I wanted to do?
Write down all the suggestions including some of my own and draw them from a hat.
(Yes i physically did that. XD)
I selected the first four names, threw those in the hat and the one I picked of those four would be the OC I used to model off the lingerie.

The winner: my panda girl Xu Chan.

Notta bad pic if I do so say myself. X3
She still has her hair up in those pigtails I gave her. Yes the lingerie was modified a bit.
But overall she's dressed to be bedded.
Wonder if she's ready to lay with that rat Roger; provided he got his priors straight. X3

As we prepare for the Semi-Finals match between the United States and France in FIFA Women's World Cup.
Even if it's not the Finals yet; this is easily one of the biggest match ups so far.

Representing the US is my fox character Sharon Nicole Ken. Her nickname: Sharon the 'Merican.
Representing France is my redheaded mouse girl Mignon "Mindy" Gardoe. Nickname: No Mercy Mindy.

Both girls are actually very nice. But if they need to be; whether in a fight for life or fierce competition such as this they can show their mean streak.

Sharon: Prepare to get roasted alive!! Cause Sharon's carryin' on the Merican winning streak! Oh yeah baby!
Mindy: I will crush you like a bunch of grapes mon cherie! Then I shall use them to make the wine I shall drink on behalf of France's victory!

Good luck ladies. Doesn't matter who wins; there will be a pic for the victor.
Sort of like what I did back in 2015.

She had some help from Lola Henderson the raccoon (AKA Lolageddon). Good thing too since France was some fierce competition.
Lola is so happy!! she's just giving Sharon a big ol hug!
Be careful how you hug her Lola girl. XD No seriously...for the love of God be careful. Sharon is one of the biggest MVPs and we know how insanely powerful you are. We don't need you breaking Sharon's spine like a stick of celery before you two go off to face England.

Mindy meanwhile is on her knees in despair weeping for her loss.

Frankie Foster used to be a huge drawing subject of mine back when Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends was one of Cartoon Network's biggest hit shows. Lasting for about four seasons she was easily one of it's most memorable characters. I wonder why. XD
Recently she's enjoyed a bit of a revival thanks in part to Gravity Falls and how Wendy reminded so many people of her.
Frankie was cute, sassy and sweet. Yeah I had a thing for her. X3

The girl on her right is an OC I created around that time named Lucinda Barthley; mostly referred to as Lucy. She is a distant cousin of Frankie. Like Frankie she too was the main cleaner at a house for imaginary friends. Well actually it's more of a House for Extremeasaurs; the more scarier and sometimes violent version of Imaginary Friends. How does Lucy manage to keep those things in check? Thanks mostly in part to her magical imaginary friend Hex the purple cat .(ANOTHER OC I've not drawn in like forever.) As Mr. Herriman the rabbit was the head administrator for Foster's home for Imaginary Friends; Hex was the head administrator for Barthely's Home for Extremasaurs. Cause they need love too; it's not their fault kids make them the way they are. Besides, they need people to look after them so they don't run amok. So Hex and Lucy run a valuable yet underappreciated service.

But anyway; I also remember at some point during the show Mac (the young male protagonist and owner of Bloo) developed a real crush on Frankie. I can see that many fan artists since then obliged his fantasies about her....in more ways than one. XD Even if Frankie never once thought about developing a relationship with Mac (why would she??) that never stopped Mac from daring to dream. Or act studly around her like here. XD
But Mac isn't the only boy trying to impress a girl here.

Mac's older brother Terrence on the right is too. This guy was a punk but he had his moments. I never really hated him; I actually enjoyed his assholery. XD So much that like Mac having a crush on Frankie I had him develop sort of a crush on Lucy.
Terrence likes Lucy? by shinragod
I'll tell you one thing though. Mac trying to act suave around Frankie is cute. But Terrence trying to do it with Lucy is actually pretty creepy. XD

So this is my last entry for the Swimsuit Art Jam. It was fun n quick and I hope you all like it. ;3

July 2019-Lola Henderson Rosalina

The very short and brief month of June has ended leaving behind Valerie Quinn as Aerith Gainsborough.
June 2019 - Valerie Quinn Aerith Gainsborough by shinragod

We enter July; and introduce the last of my four "Fuzz" girls. Save the best for last huh? ;3
We had Xu Chan as Ada Wong from Resident Evil
Ruth Campbell as Kairi from Kingdom Hearts
And I already mentioned who Valerie was. ;3

So now we have Lola Henderson. I had planned for her to be one of the princesses from the Super Mario Bros. franchise.
Ah yes...we now enter the realm of classic gaming with Mario.
But which princess was she to be?

Well she's always been way out there. Like WAY out there!! Lola acts as if she's from another planet. In fact her mind seems to be elsewhere lost in space.
Space. Planets.
It's settled then.....Lola Henderson is Rosalina from the Super Mario Galaxy franchise. XD

I modified her fur hair to cover her hair like Rosalina does. I modified her dress a bit so we can get a peek at her gorgeous raccoon legs. XD
I also modified her star buddy Luma to resemble her beloved narwhal Pancake.
I wonder while we're on the topic of Mario Bros. if Lola's narwhal is more akin to Yoshi. XD May be a stuffed narwhal but I wonder if you feed enough items it grows bigger and she can ride him. XD

The world of Mario is random as heck. And Lola fits into it perfectly. Even in the world of Mario she would be too OP. XD Sure both Peach and Daisy can break stuff with their butts. But Lola's butt holds the power of a thousand nukes.
Horny fanboys out there take note and proceed with extreme caution. XD

Two of the most patriotic holidays for two of the most prominent North American countries are going on this week. Fourth of July for the USA and Canada Day for our Northern brothers and sisters.
(Cinco de Mayo for our Southern Border cousins was May.)

Sarahtomic Fails To Make the Goal

Continuing the U.S. Women's FIFA winning streak; Sarah Brendhart (Sarahtomic) failed to make the penalty kcik that would've tied England and US during the Semi-Finals.
Lola Henderson (Lolageddon) prevented that from happening and now she's prancing around looking all jovial-like. This is must hurt even more Sarah than when a goal was seemingly made earlier only to not count.
And Shining Wolf meanwhile is tearing up that blasted red card. SO many missed opportunities for England here. No wonder Shining Wolf is enraged and Sarah is just kneeling down staring blankly with a mini storm cloud over her head. This match up proved to be even more intense and dramatic than France.
Sharon the Merican Beats No Mercy Mindy by shinragod

So now with the other sem-finals over with Netherlands advancing; it's gonna be the Americans vs. The Dutch.
AKA, my country vs. my girlfriend's (:iconverona7881:) country. XD
At this point I don't care who wins. If my girlfriend's country wins more power to her. ;3

But TBH; It's gonna be hard drawing a commemorative win here for Netherlands. Because I don't have any Dutch characters to represent and neither does my girlfriend. Abigail her main squirrel character isn't Dutch....her nationality is yet to be determined. XD
A friend of mine suggested using Penelope from Sly Cooper to represent the Dutch.
Notta bad idea....except of all my Sly Cooper OCs none of them are American. The Fuzz characters could potentially fit in the same universe as Sly Cooper; but it was never planned as such.
It's not like I have to stick rigidly to the rules.
I'll probably just draw a pic of Sharon the Merican, Lolageddon and other team mates like The Ruthinator and Val's our Gal celebrating their win should the US win the World Cup.
